Race Day Guide

Manny Flick Regatta Information

All Manny Flick Regattas are held on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia and are organized by the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association (PSRA).

These races are early-season spring regattas and are an important part of athlete development, race execution, and team progression.

FINDING CONESTOGA BOATS

  • Check the heat sheet to confirm event and lane assignment
  • Look for Conestoga maroon and gray oars on the water
  • Boats launch and stage from designated areas — exact locations vary by regatta

REGATTA DAY: WHAT TO BRING

Spring weather can be unpredictable. Families should plan to be outside for several hours.
 
Recommended items:
  • Warm layers (even on sunny days)
  • Waterproof boots or shoes
  • Umbrella / rain gear
  • Folding chair or blanket
  • Binoculars (highly recommended)
  • Camera or phone charger

REGATTA DAY: EXPECTATIONS & RULES

  • Parents and families are not permitted in the boathouse or trailer area
  • Only athletes and authorized staff may access equipment areas
  • Please respect all race officials, volunteers, and venue rules
These policies are enforced for safety and efficiency.

 

PARKING IN PHILADELPHIA

Kelly Drive is typically closed during regattas. If you are driving east on Kelly Drive toward the city, you will be detoured up the hill and directed toward designated parking areas.

Fairmount Park Parking

  • Follow posted Kelly Drive detours to Fairmount Park lots
  • Monitored parking is typically $20 per day (cash only)
  • Shuttle service generally runs every 20–35 minutes (traffic dependent) from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Mt. Pleasant Mansion Parking

This is a popular option with direct pedestrian access to the grandstands.

From this location, spectators can walk downhill to the race course.
 
Additional Notes:
  • Parking is also available near the Philadelphia Museum of Art (approximately a 20-minute walk)
  • As with any city event, lock vehicles and leave no valuables visible
  • Bathroom availability can vary; additional units are often placed near team tents
  • Extra supplies may be available at the Conestoga tent, but families may wish to plan ahead
